I Take This Oath is a 1940 American crime drama film directed by Sam Newfield under the pseudonym of Sherman Scott. Featuring Gordon Jones and Joyce Compton, it was the first release by Producers Releasing Corporation. In 1952, Pictorial Films reissued it for television showings as Police Rookie.

SYNOPSIS
"I Take This Oath" is a 1940 crime drama film directed by Sam Newfield. The story follows rookie police officer Steve Hannigan, who is eager to uphold the law and protect his community. However, Steve faces numerous challenges as he navigates the corruption and crime within the city. When his honest efforts to clean up the streets bring him into conflict with powerful criminal elements, Steve's dedication to justice is put to the ultimate test. With the support of his fiancée, Mary, and fellow officers, Steve must confront these dangers head-on to restore order and honor to the police force.
