Cyberpunk 2077 Nomad Ep146 - Hacking The Hacker / Breaking News (No Commentary)

One thing that always struck me as a possible problem with these large open world RPGs is this: What do you do when you've finished it all but you want to keep playing?

Well that's easy, you can start again with mods, or wait an unknown amount of time before the developers release a sequel (if they ever do!).

In Fallout 4 the world was so vast you could easily complete the main story of the game and only experience a tiny piece of the overall map. Once all the side quests were finished and the settlements were inhabited what was left to do?

The radiant quest system was the solution Bethesda gave us. You can keep going back again and again to certain quest givers to be given generic tasks or jobs. This motivated the player to go back out into the wasteland to complete objectives and in turn get rewarded with resources.

Why didn't anyone at CDPR think to implement this? Once Night City is cleaned out of all the side jobs, gigs and NCPD contracts, the whole things suddenly feels like a dead, static world.

And endlessly generated list of generic gigs you can keep tapping into would have kept the world feeling alive. They went through all that trouble to make the fixers these incredibly detailed and complex characters, yet for the most part they're only in the game to say, "Hey go here, do this thing, get rewards."
