ISAIAH 28 - When you scoff at others that follow Torah, you are scoffing the Heavenly Father. 8.9.24

Isa 28:2 Behold, the Lord has a strong and mighty agent; As a storm of hail, a tempest of destruction, Like a storm of mighty overflowing waters, He has cast it down to the earth with His hand. The "mighty and strong agent" is Assyria.

Elohim says they will be like "a storm of hail and a storm of mighty overflowing waters." When the forces of nature rages against man, we do not stand a chance. That is going to be the case with Ephraim when they are struck by Assyria.

Isa 28:3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden under foot.

Isa 28:4 And the fading flower of its glorious beauty, Which is at the head of the fertile valley, Will be like the first-ripe fig prior to summer; Which one sees, And as soon as it is in his hand, He swallows it. Ephriam is going to be swallowed up like the first juicy fig in the spring. They will disappear.

Isa 28:5 In that day the LORD of hosts will become a beautiful crown And a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people;

Isa 28:6 A spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment, A strength to those who repel the onslaught at the gate.

When Elohim destroys Ephraim, He will be a beautiful crown and a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people. He will judge Ephraim in justice.

Isa 28:7 And these also reel with wine and stagger from strong drink: The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; They reel while having visions, They totter when rendering judgment.

It is a violation of Torah for leaders to be drunk when passing judgment or when teaching Torah to the people.

(Lev 10:9-11).

However, it is more likely that Ephraim was swallowed up and drunk on their own pride.

(Jer 48:26).
Isa 28:8 For all the tables are full of filthy vomit, without a single clean place.

There was not a clean place in Ephraim due to their sin committed in their pride and arrogance.

Isa 28:9 "To whom would He teach knowledge? And to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast?

Isa 28:10 "For He says, 'Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there.'"

The people of Ephraim were mocking Isaiah. They were saying "Who are you going to teach this to? Little babies?" Then they proceeded to mock his method of telling them His Word. But Isaiah was doing exactly what is commanded in Torah. It is to be taught to the people and their children.

(Deut 6:1-9, 11:18-21).

Isa 28:11 Indeed, He will speak to this people Through stammering lips and a foreign tongue, Since they mock the simple teaching of His Word, the other "tongue"

Elohim would use to speak to them is the one of the Assyrians. They would not understand the language, but they would get the message. Paul used this passage, in principle, to describe the gift of speaking in tongues. He said the ability to miraculously speak to others in their language is a sign to unbelievers, or to rebellious Israel, in his day.

(1 Cor 14:21-22).

Isa 28:12 He who said to them, "Here is rest, give rest to the weary," And, "Here is repose," but they would not listen.

Elohim tried to give them rest in His ways.

(Jer 6:16).

Yeshua quoted that passage in Jeremiah telling the people to follow the ancient paths and forget the leaven of the Pharisees.

(Matt. 11:28-30).

Elohim tried to give His ways to Ephraim, but they would not listen.

Isa 28:13 So the word of the LORD to them will be, "Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there," That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared, and taken captive.

They will get the Word of Elohim in the form of judgment from the Assyrians.
(Amos. 6:5, 8:12).

Isa 28:14 Therefore, hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,

Isa 28:15 Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a pact. The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by, For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception."

Ephraim tries to make covenants with Syria and even Egypt in order to save themselves from Assyria. It didn't work.

Isa 28:22 And now do not carry on as scoffers, Lest your fetters be made stronger; For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts, Of decisive destruction on all the earth.

Isa 28:23 Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my words.

Isa 28:24 Does the farmer plow continually to plant seed? Does he continually turn and harrow the ground?

Isa 28:25 Does he not level its surface, And sow dill and scatter cummin, And plant wheat in rows, Barley in its place, and rye within its area?

Isaiah warns the people not to continue in their scoffing, lest their punishment be worse.
