The Blue Gardenia (1953)

Directed by Fritz Lang. The film follows Norah Larkin (played by Anne Baxter), a woman whose life takes a dark turn when she mistakenly believes that her boyfriend, serving in the Korean War, has dumped her. Devastated, she accepts a dinner invitation from the womanizing artist Harry Prebble (Raymond Burr), whom she barely knows. After a night of heavy drinking, Norah wakes up the next morning with no memory of the night before, only to discover that Harry has been murdered.
