In Islam, the religion is founded on the belief in one God, Allah, who is all-powerful and merciful. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, who is considered the final prophet in a long line that includes figures like Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. The core religious texts are the Qur'an, believed to be the literal word of God as revealed to Muhammad, and the Hadith, which are the sayings and actions of Muhammad.

Islamic practice is centered around the Five Pillars:

1. Shahada: The declaration of faith, bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.

2. Salah: The performance of ritual prayers five times a day.

3. Zakat: The giving of alms or charity to the poor and needy.

4. Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan from dawn until dusk.

5. Hajj: The pilgrimage to Mecca, which every Muslim is required to undertake at least once in their lifetime if able.

Islamic law, or Sharia, provides guidance on all aspects of life, including moral, social, and legal matters. The faith emphasizes justice, compassion, and the importance of community.
