The trailer for Bagman was unveiled by Lionsgate Movies, on Monday. A horror thriller, the film stars Sam Claflin and Antonia Thomas in lead roles and is directed by Colm McCarthy.

The trailer shows Claflin and Thomas as a couple with a young child, who is told the legend of the 'Bagman', a serial killer who lures young children with toys and abducts them in his bag, only to consume them alive. While Claflin initially dismisses it as a legend that is told to frighten children, he starts believing in the murderer, when his child is abducted.

William Hope, Steven Cree, Frankie Corio, Adelle Leonce, Henry Pettigrew, Sharon D Clarke, Neil Linpow, and Caréll Vincent Rhoden round out the cast of Bagman.

The official synopsis of Bagman reads, "A family finds themselves ensnared in a nightmare as they are hunted by a malevolent, mythical creature. For centuries and across cultures, parents have warned their children of the legendary Bagman, who snatches innocent children and stuffs them into his vile, rotting bag—never to be seen again. Patrick McKee (Sam Claflin) narrowly escaped such an encounter as a boy, which left him with lasting scars throughout his adulthood. Now, Patrick’s childhood tormentor has returned, threatening the safety of his wife Karina (Antonia Thomas) and son Jake (Caréll Vincent Rhoden)."

Written by John Hulme, Bagman is all set to hit theatres on September 20.
Fall brings pumpkin spice lattes, leaves changing colors and horror movies. The 2024 new movie Bagman is helping to deliver on that latter promise.

While horror movies have become a year-round thing nowadays, there can be a different kind of excitement around ones that come out in September and October. Add to that when Black Mirror and The Girl with All the Gifts director Colm McCarthy steps behind the camera for this one.

Leading the way in Bagman is Hunger Games: Catching Fire alum Sam Claflin. In Bagman he plays a father who must protect his family from the Bagman, a creature that he only narrowly escaped when he was a child. In addition to the Hunger Games franchise, Clafliin is known for his roles in Daisy Jones & The Six, Peaky Blinders, Enola Holmes and Me Before You.

Playing Claflin's wife and child in the movie are Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor) and Caréll Rhoden, who is making his big screen debut with Bagman.

Other members of the cast include Sharon D. Clarke (Red, White & Royal Blue), Steven Cree (The Diplomat season 1), William Hope (Eric), Adelle Leonce (Fool Me Once), Peter McDonald (The Batman), Henry Pettigrew (Payback) and Will Davis.

Colm McCarthy movies
Colm McCarthy is a BAFTA-nominated director (for Murphy's Law) that has made most of his career working in TV, including notable series like The Tudors, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. Sam Claflin stars in the trailer of new horror Bagman from director Colm McCarthy.

The movie, which is set for an October release, sees Claflin's character Patrick having to deal with the titular creature as it threatens his family.

"The so-called Bagman is a figure common to almost every culture," an unseen narrator says in the clip, which you can see above.

"Curiously, his methodology is remarkably consistent. It is said he eats children, preferring to prey on those that are nice.

"He feeds off the child's fear and anxiety, luring them to his cave with toys or candy. And when the child is at their most terrified, he steals them away in his bag."

After narrowly escaping the creature in his childhood, Patrick has to resort to his first-hand knowledge to protect his loved ones.

The movie kicks off when the protagonist and his wife Karina (The Good Doctor's Antonia Thomas) move back to his hometown, where he becomes convinced that the Bagman could be targeting their son Jake, played by Caréll Vincent Rhoden.

The cast is rounded out by Outlander's Steven Cree, Eric's William Hope and Aftersun's Frankie Corio.

Fans of Claflin will also be able to catch him in an upcoming World War II drama titled Perdition, set to start production later this year.

The movie features the Hunger Games star as an American soldier who is the sole survivor of a prisoner-of-war camp execution in 1944 in Belgium.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Asteroid City's Rupert Friend plays opposite Claflin as a ruthless Nazi hunter who is tasked with hunting the protagonist down.
