Woods of Ypres - Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light (2012) Review / Discussion

101

In about a decade's time, Woods of Ypres made some of the most emotive music that combined elements of black, doom, and gothic metal in a unique way. This was a band that was gone much too soon by the tragic passing of the amazing multi-instrumentalist, David Gold. Woods 5 combines lyric and melodies that bring introspection, sorrow and beauty to the listener and we had a good time digging deeper into this album. This is one record that should be more known to the metal community at large, and we are grateful for Gold and the other musicians for crafting such an amazing record for all of us to enjoy!

Our score: 8.17 / 10
