Tropical Alert: Storm Francine Gears Up to Become a Hurricane!

Tropical Storm Francine is currently in the western Gulf of Mexico, about 435 miles south-southwest of Cameron, Louisiana. Francine is heading north-northwest and moving slowly at only 7 mph. The system is expected to strengthen into a hurricane Tuesday and into a Category 2 hurricane Wednesday, with winds of 100 mph. There are some signs the system could be stronger before it makes landfall late Wednesday into Thursday morning along the Louisiana coast.
