Isa 19:17 And the land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt; everyone to whom it is mentioned will be in dread of it, because of the purpose of the LORD of hosts which He is purposing against them.

The biggest fear of the nation of Egypt today is the nation of Israel. They have many of their buildings sandbagged for fear of an attack by the Jews. This prophecy is very literally being fulfilled today.

Isa 19:18 In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will be speaking the language of Canaan and swearing allegiance to the LORD of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction.

This section seems to refer to Egypt at the time of the return of Messiah. When Messiah returns, Egypt and many nations will worship Him.

(Zech 2:11, Psalm 22:27-31).

Isa 19:19 In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD near its border.

There will apparently be an altar in the midst of Egypt, dedicated to the worship of Elohim, and the border pillar, also dedicated to Elohim, will be clear signs that Egypt belongs to the Elohim of Israel. Josephus reports that in 154 B.C. the priest Onias IV built a temple in Leontopolis, which was dedicated to the worship of Elohim and which rivaled in magnificence the temple in Jerusalem. Onias and the Egyptian Jewish colony justified this action on the basis of this verse. However, the true fulfillment of this verse awaits the return of Messiah.
