Betta Changed Colors! And new plants.

My betta is a half-moon fancy plakat. I thought I bought a white one with colorful scales. Turns out he was a blue betta all along.
It took him only a few months for this transformation to occur. His main food is hikari betta bio-gold, but I also fed him frozen bloodworms, atison’s betta food, and new life spectrum betta formula.
Water change schedule is 50% each week.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

The original plant was Whorled Pennywort (Hydrocotyle verticillata). I didn't trim it for 3 months. I actually started to trim them today, then made a mess, so I just ended up removing all of it.
The new plants are water nymph(Najas guadalupensis) and Liverwort (Monosolenium tenerum). I used a very small dab of super glue to the driftwood to keep the liverwort in place.

The soil is cheap “Amazon Soil” with sand for cap. I capped it with sand so that the soil wouldn’t leach out nutrients into the water column too much. Too much nutrients in the water without a lot of plants will aid algae growth, imo.

The light is 12w – four 3W 12,000K LEDs. I like the high color temperature b/c it makes the tank look very clean and makes the colors pop.

The duckweed grows very fast, and it helps filter the water.

I've always said "bay-tuh" what about you?

Fish sleep with their eyes open. I wonder if they can see while sleeping. ??
