Neanderthals: Physical Traits & Genetic Information

Neanderthal Man is named after the Neander valley, in Germany, where the first bones of this extinct race were found. Neanderthals were thought by some to be a missing link between apes and man, while others thought them to be another species of humanoids, and still others insisted that they were just humans. As it turns out, they were in fact humans, albeit a race of humans which were significantly different from what would be considered normal by today’s standards, for any part of the world.

I wanted to cover this issue because I was fed an article about the Neanderthals in my newsfeed, which led me to more information, including (eventually) information which I believe to be a cultural memory of the Neanderthals. We decided to break this topic into two parts to make it easier to digest. Part one deals with the physical and genetic information, as well as the geographic range.
