Allen Ludden | Password Plus | Patty Duke Astin, John Astin | Game Show

Password Plus, a revival of the original game show Password, ran from January 8, 1979, through March 26, 1982, a total of 801 episodes. Password Plus won a Daytime Emmy Award n 1982 for Outstanding Game Show. Allen Ludden, the host of the original show was the first host of Password Plus, He hosted until April 1980, at which time, he took a leave of absence, due to a diagnosis of stomach cancer. Bill Cullen filled in for about a month, and then Allen Ludden returned. Ludden left the game show again in late October of 1980 because of further health problems. Allen was replaced by Tom Kennedy.
