Super Typhoon Yagi struck northern Vietnam, causing severe damage, including landslides, sinking boats, and ripping roofs off buildings, leaving 14 people dead before weakening into a tropical depression.

Among the victims were a family of four killed in a landslide in Hoa Binh province.

The storm, one of the most powerful in the region in a decade, also flooded parts of Hai Phong, damaged power lines, and left several missing at sea near Ha Long Bay.

Yagi had previously devastated southern China and the Philippines, killing at least 24 people, Al-Jazeera has reported.
