WJ TAPPAN & BURTON PRESTON - GLOBE STEEL ABRASIVE CO 2024 NCOIM HALL of FAME

The Globe Steel Abrasive Company was the brain-child of WJ Tappan(Founder of the Eclipse/Tappan Stove Company) and Burton Preston(Owner of Preston & Company, a Granite Importer). Both men had a need for a good Steel Abrasive in their own Businesses. At one time Globe was the largest producer of Steel Abrasives, in the World. The Company was founded in 1907, sold to Park Industries in 1970 and closed in 1991.
