The Tonight Show on December 13th 1976 was guest hosted by Bob Newhart, Don Rickles was the guest and he accidentally broke Johnny Carson's personal cigarette box.

The next night December 14th, 1976, Johnny Carson returned & noticed his cigarette box was broken & was told by Doc Severinsen what had happened. Johnny then took a camera crew and walked across the hall to the studio where C.P.O Sharkey was being taped live.

Later on November 13th, 1978, after C.P.O. Sharkey had been cancelled, Don Rickles was guest hosting The Tonight Show with guest Carroll O'Connor & not knowingly started banging Johnny's new cigarette box on the desk.
