SURPRISE! Official Trailer (2024)

Convinced his wife is cheating on him with his best friend, a husband goes off the deep end into a conspiracy only to find himself unprepared for what comes next. Launching on 03/29
"Come on in, they got chips!" Freestyle Digital Media has revealed a trailer for an indie comedy film called Surprise!, the second feature film from filmmaker Nate Hapke. This will be out on VOD to watch in August if anyone wants to join the party. In the film, Ethan throws a surprise birthday party for his girlfriend Jane, with plans to propose later that night, but despite all his careful planning, things quickly go awry. Sibling rivalries cause conflict, exes show up uninvited, and Grandma even stops by to take back the family ring... Luckily, Ethan and Jane’s friends are as compassionate as they are chaotic, and they help the couple to find their way to a happy ending. The ensemble cast includes Melanie Thompson as Jane and Bryce Harrow as Ethan, Marisa Hood, Rob Harrow, Charlie Carr, Lee Shorten, Aaron Sanders, Jamie Miller, Gwen Hillier, CB Mullen, Niya Wright, Javier Prusky, Nate Hapke, and Justin Sorvillo. This film looks somewhat amusing, with some funny jokes and plenty of super awkward moments to cringe-laugh at.

Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Nate Hapke's Surprise!, direct from YouTube:

A story of a surprise birthday party, which is really a surprise engagement, that gets repeatedly derailed because of, not despite, the best intentions of the guests. Ethan (Bryce Harrow) throws a surprise birthday party for his girlfriend Jane (Melanie Thompson), with plans to propose before the night ends, but despite all his careful planning, things quickly go awry. In Surprise!, sibling rivalries cause conflict, exes show up uninvited, and Grandma even stops by to take back the family ring – but will Ethan ever make it down onto one knee? Luckily, Ethan & Jane's friends are as compassionate as they are chaotic, and they help the couple to find their way to a happy ending. Surprise! is directed by indie filmmaker Nate Hapke, director of the film Two Dash One One previously, plus tons of other short films. The screenplay is written by Rosie Grace and Nate Hapke. Produced by Julia Armine, Rosie Grace, Nate Hapke. Freestyle Digital Media debuts Hapke's Surprise! direct-to-VOD / DVD starting on August 13th, 2024 this summer. Anyone interested?
If you’ve been staring at the edge of the water awaiting a Moana sequel, boy do we have news for you. Disney CEO Bob Iger shared a surprise announcement in an interview with CNBC ahead of the company’s quarterly earnings report on February 7. “Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November,” reads the press release. The new film sees Moana and the demigod Maui sail long-lost waters after receiving a sudden call from her wayfinding ancestors to once again take to the seas, per the release. A first-look video accompanied the announcement, giving us a 15-second peek at Moana on an apparently deserted island. How far will she go this time? The first trailers, confirmed voice cast, new batch of songwriters, and release date, below.

We’ve got an electric new trailer…
… in the sense that Moana is literally dodging lightning, which (as we previously saw in the teaser trailer) is apparently the ancestors’ preferred method of communication. Big sister Moana promises that she’ll return after her latest journey, which reunites her with Maui … and the Kakamora. Do you think they just fell out of a coconut tree? No, they exist in the context of what came before (a.k.a. their appearance in the original Moana movie).

A teaser trailer depicts a pre-Ancestry.com world.
How did one find their long-lost cousins before an online database creepily compiled public records for your paid perusal? The ancestors sent a call from beyond, asking you to sail the Pacific in search of them. In the teaser trailer for Moana 2, we see the titular character receiving a message by way of lightning bolt and mysterious drumming. “This is a call from the ancestors,” she tells the island community, “to sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the entire ocean.” Once Moana casts off for her second adventure, a hungry Maui magically appears on her vessel and considers eating her pet pig.

The original cast couldn’t stay away from the water.
On February 27, Deadline reported that Auli’i Cravalho will return to voice Moana in the sequel, Moana 2. Shortly afterward, the actress posted an Instagram video confirming the news. “The feeling when you’re officially returning to Motunui 🥹🐚🌀,” she captioned the short clip. Now, you might recall that Cravalho previously told fans that she wasn’t planning to reprise her role, and would instead help find her successor as an executive producer. But she was actually talking about the live-action Moana, which is a separate film. No one said she couldn’t return for the animated sequel! Just like her character, she comes back to the water no matter how hard she tries. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will reprise his role as Maui, Disney confirmed on April 3.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, on the other hand, could stay away.
Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear of The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical fame replace Lin-Manuel Miranda as songwriters. While he couldn’t make it back to Oceania this round, Moana story artist David Derrick Jr. returns to direct the film along with songwriters Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina.

Moana 2 sails into theaters Thanksgiving.
The film docks on November 27. If this news isn’t enough to satisfy insatiable Moana fans, quiet up and listen down: that live-action version starring the Rock is still in the works. So, like, More-ana x2. You’re welcome!
It was technically a surprise performance, but nearly everyone who jammed into “Poppi World,” the soda brand’s pop-up shop in New York’s SoHo district on Friday night, knew what was coming: a performance from superstar New York rapper and “Power” star 50 Cent.

The store, which is open through Sunday, was filled with a young (and expensively dressed) crowd as well as loads of celebrities: Emily Ratajkowski, Jasmine Tookes, Jake Shane, Camille Kostek, Devon Windsor, Brooks Nadar, Georgia Fowler, Leah Kateb, Emily Didonato, Kevin Love, Suni Lee, Patrick Ta, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Rebecca Minkoff, Maria Georgas, Kelsey Anderson, Serena Page, Kordell Beckham, Remi Bader, Monet McMichael, Michael Rainey, and others, according to the announcement.

While many of the above were presumably backstage, “Love Island” stars Olivia Walker, Kaylor Martin and Kendall Washington worked the audience, posing for selfies and watching 50 Cent’s performance from the floor (although considering Washington’s towering height, some may have wished he’d watched from the side). All took in the store’s elaborate design, which was outfitted floor-to-ceiling with the brand’s vivid cherry-red colors, logos and messaging, in a way that was visually loud but also tastefully executed. The crowd picked up loads of free swag while sipping on complimentary drinks.

While brief, 50’s tight 30-minute set found him reeling off around 20 of his biggest hits, including the on-message “Candy Shop” and “Window Shopper,” along with “P.I.M.P.,” “21 Questions,” “Many Men,” “AYO Technology” and closing out, of course, with “In da Club.” The young crowd surprisingly sang along with many songs that were older or nearly older than they are, although a fair number were wordlessly waving and woo-ing for their phones and friends.

The set ended promptly at 9:30 but the DJ fired up the turntables again and the crowd rocked into the night.
