Rea' Owlam | Eternal Friend

This is an ode to the woman, Yisra’el, and to Leah.
Leah is the first wife of Ya’aqob. She struggled to find love in the eyes of her husband. To this day she is overlooked by Yisra’el as the true mother of the tribes, Yahuwdah in particular.

Lyrics based on the concepts in Mizmowr 110-113

Dedicated to my friend, Leah.

Sing to the barren field,
That she may yet produce,
Sing to the childless woman,
and share in her good news,

The forsaken have been lifted,
A crown settled on the Nakar’s brow,
And the barren woman’s sadness flees,
As eternal light shines on her now,

As I sit beside my window,
A summer rain falls in the trees,
I smile and softly sing for her,
My lovely friend she soon will be,

A joyful mother of her sons,
For all eternity,
For two alone would not suffice,
So may there many be!!

A little bird once flitted here,
Her nest an empty hollow,
But I know soon she’ll fly away,
From her sorrows like a swallow,

My friend my heart is happy!
To know it was all worthwhile,
Your journey and my journey brought,
Us together for these miles,

And to know it is forever,
To see it written in the pages,
Makes my soul overflow with joy,
For I’ll know you timeless ages!!!

Sing unto your children,
sing for them well my friend,
the lullaby upon your lips,
may carry them to you in the end

Whisper on the wind a name,
a name her Prince bestowed,
and in the barren field I see,
starlight flickers, flames and grows!
