Chicken Scalder complete

Chicken Scalder complete. I built this Scalder out of an old air compressor tank and an old dolly that I've had laying around here for 15 years. Finally got to use those items picked up for free. I have a 240 volt, 5500 Watt heating element. I also took some Fender washers and bent them in my break so that they act as a clamp to hold that extension cord in place after I Looped it up through the one clamp and then down through the washers and tightened that bolt on there to hold it tightly in place. I put solid wire leads on the thermostat terminals and heating element terminal screws as the stranded wire in the cord itself does not attach to the screws very well. Then connected the stranded wires to the solid wire leads and solder them together and put some Hefty wire nuts on there to to help keep any movement from breaking those solder joints and protect the joint from moisture. Now I pointed those wire nuts upward so that any water that could splash down on the wires while scalding chickens or from rain, would shut off and not get in there and corrode the wires. Then I painted the exterior with black enamel gloss paint and the inside with white enamel gloss paint after preparing the inside of the tank with Phosphoric acid, as Phosphoric acid converts rust (iron oxide) into iron phosphate, which is a black, inert, and relatively stable compound. This compound acts as a barrier layer or protective coating that prevents further rust from forming. It makes a good surface for paint to stick, acts like a primer. After about a week letting that paint dry real good and cure out the Sun, I'm going to process some chickens and run them through my chicken plucker I made. You can watch that on this channel as well.
