Prediction: This Rookie Will Make An Impact & 1 Kings 6

Bold Prediction time. Y’all ready for it. This receiver will move from Cowboys fringe roster player to Cowboys 3rd best wide receiver by the end of the year. In fact. He is currently ranked at the 1007th best player in ESPNs fantasy football and has been rostered by only .1% of the Fantasy world. Next year, he will be a top 200 player and be rostered by 30% of all fantasy leagues.

I’ll be honest my initial read on Ryan Flournoy is I didn’t think he would make the team. In my memory he started with a drop, a fumble, and another drop… although this throw was not great.

But the Cowboys kept giving him chances and he really shined in the Raiders game. In this drive in particular he caught 4 balls for 23 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders starting corner. Plus this nice little block on the sweep.

The touchdown he scored was a sweet fade where he completely loses the corner and is wide open and also survives the swipe of the ball. That’s important. This dude has hand strength.

He also has the ability to break tackles after the catch if you just try to shoulder him out of bounce. Or even make a guy miss, which didn’t amount to much on these two plays but sometimes making one guy miss is the difference between a first down and a punt.

I like this play because even though he doesn’t get great separation with his route he is still able to make the catch for the TD in a really tight space. The announcer for the Chargers said this was blatant offensive pass interference and he’s technically right, but I think this no call is inline with the way the league has been calling these.

But I did some digging and found that improving fast is just what Ryan Flournoy does. His best year in High School was when he received 28 receptions for 480 yards and 7 TDs. That is not the sort of domination I would expect to see from a future NFL player.

I mean look at what CD Lamb did in his senior year. That’s insane but more in line from what I would expect a NFL player would do in High School. I am showing you this chart just so you can see the comparison of opportunity between him and CD Lamb. Not saying that he is going to be like CD lamb, I mean I hope, but you can see that he just hasn’t had many reps. But he’s getting more and more now and he’s impressing. So much so that Coach McCarthy Said “He’s a young man that gets better with every opportunity, … You can see the confidence from Week 1 to Week 2; he took a huge step. I love his physicality: run blocking and finish was exceptional… I thought he had a good night out there in Vegas.”

Which is why by the end of this season I think we’ll be seeing a couple of catches a game from Ryan as our Bonafede third best WR. The only question is what is his ceiling.

I was in 1 Kings and the description of the temple Solomon built for the LORD is crazy. Basically everything seems like it was gold or covered in gold. Crazy. There were lots of crazy estimates for how much this temple would cost to build today. I saw something as high as 150 billion which seems insane, but there was a person with a doctorate who in 1924 said it would cost $30 Mil which would be about $550 million in today's money.

It just got me thinking about what we spend money on as a culture. I can’t even imagine the headlines if there was a church that was built for $550 Million. Like man, maybe that money could be spent better for God’s kingdom.

But The Cowboys stadium cost 1.85 Billion to build and our culture didn’t argue over the price, but who paid it.

the Bible says where your treasure is, that is where your heart is. And I find that kind of convicting.
