The G-body air-cooled Porsche 911s really show their age during servicing. The front wheel hub and its associated bearings are much different from the contemporary setup. However, replacing the bearings isn't any more difficult; it's just a bit different.

The best time to replace your air-cooled 911's bearing is during a front brake rotor replacement. Both involve removing the hub from the spindle, and replacing the bearings doesn't involve too many more steps. You'll need some bearing driver cups or a press to install the bearings effectively, but a large socket can work in a pinch.

In this video, Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIYer, replaces the front wheel bearings on a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera.
