This is the first time I was able to have skin-to-skin contact with my beautiful son Spencer after his caesarean section and my subsequent post-partum haemorrhage.

It was 24 hours after he was born, and he was being cared for in the special care nursery at Gold Coast Private Hospital.

It was the very first time I was able to attempt to breastfeed him and you'll hear Gold Coast Private Hospital lactation consultant Heather Lloyd talk about why skin-to-skin contact is so powerful for babies and mothers in this video.
