Doug Talks About: The Hippocratic Oath…I swear to some gods…

For many years, I’ve studied traditional medicine, and I grow increasingly concerned that things are changing for the worse at a rapid pace. Over diagnosing and over treating is no longer rare. Far too many unnecessary surgeries are being done and far too many drugs are being unnecessarily prescribed. Young people are rapidly being diagnosed with cancer for reasons medical experts are unaware of. What happened to the doctors of yesteryear who vowed against using deadly chemicals to treat patients and favored using diet to mitigate their patients’ illnesses? For thousands of years, the “rules” that govern the practice of ethical medicine have been attributed to Hippocrates, the father of medicine. Around 1595AD, the original Hippocratic Oath was first penned. It was re-penned by a doctor in 1964. I will read you both versions of this oath that apparently means very little since many doctors never recited it. Join me from 3-4PM Central Time on Wednesday and perhaps this revised Hippocratic Oath will help you better understand why we are where we are in our current healthcare system. - Doug
