Tham Nam Temple (Wat Than Nam) is a royal temple belonging to the Maha Nikaya. The temple was established on September 18, 1989 and received the Royal Wisungkhamsima on
February 2, 1995.

Tham Nam is a popular tourist attraction for the local Thais to visit. It is a very large and spacious cave with some nice rock formations. The walkway is not too steep making it accessible for the average person to be able to explore inside.

Inside the cave it is filled with water with stone walkways. The cave is filled with water that flows from the canal next to the temple and flows through water is called a "water shaft."

There are many freshwater living in the water. During the high tide there will be high water levels so dry or rainy season doesn’t effect the water levels much inside the cave.

The temple has made a cement walkway for people to walk and admire the scenery inside the cave. There are beautiful stalagmites and stalactites formations throughout.

There are also many places to worship. Buddha statues in various postures, Ganesha, Naga, hermits and more are located throughout the cave chambers.

Inside the cave, there are various colored lights giving the rocks a beautiful look that is a photo spot for tourists.

Outside the cave, there are many Buddha images in various poses including a statue of King Taksin the Great and a Guan Yin.

There is also all of the normal temple buildings that are required for an active monastery. In addition there is a shrine that has the body of the former head monk on display for the locals to pay respect to.

The entrance to the cave is not much higher than the surrounding area making it accessible to children and the elderly. It is not accessible for wheelchairs or anyone that is unable to climb stairs.

It’s a small temple that is a nice change from the normal temples you see in Thailand and worth a visit if you are in the area.
