EU commission set to have fewer women leaders despite push for equality | DW News

The first woman to lead the EU, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is pushing for gender parity. She wants an equal number of men and women in her team of commissioners -- but seems to have fallen short.
As she begins her second term, she'd asked all of the EU's member countries to nominate both a man and a woman for her to choose from, as she fills various top jobs. But since countries don't legally have to do that, many simply haven't. Von der Leyen now looks set to have fewer women leaders in her commission in her second term, than she did in her first.
