Turkey’s Departure from NATO - A New Geopolitical Reality

Turkey is poised to leave NATO, and the reasons are becoming increasingly clear. The U.S., the dominant force in NATO, is seen by many in Turkey as its primary adversary. For years, the relationship between the two has been fraught with tension and hypocrisy, masked by the veneer of alliance. There is a growing perception that the U.S. and Israel harbor ambitions to undermine or even invade Turkey. Meanwhile, the European Union has always kept Turkey at arm's length, which, in hindsight, may have been a blessing for Turkey given the EU's current economic troubles.

Turkey's future lies in strengthening ties with Asia, Africa, and the Turkic nations, forming a new economic and military bloc representing over 300 million people. In reality, the West lost Turkey's allegiance long ago. However, the architects of U.S. foreign policy were too complacent, assuming they had Turkish leaders securely in their grasp.
