What’s going on headbangers, Erick Benhardtson here, your host for SGT Rock's Headbangers Ball! Welcome back to the most wicked awesome Heavy Metal show on Rumble! Come on over and join us Veterans for the party up here on Freedom Hill, overlooking the beautiful Rappahannock river, broadcasting at 150,000 Watts of pure Heavy Metal power where the beer is always cold, the food is always hot, and the music is always loud. This show is filled with rock and metal from all generations. Putting this show together I just really wanted to put some country rock/metal on the show too and make it a show that everyone could enjoy from all ages and generations.

02 September 1986, walking through the doors of a new school year. Summer’s gone by; all the girls are lookin’ their absolute best on opening day. All I could think about was the Summer and the good times had by my group of friends and me. From Brainerd to Duluth, as far West as Wisconsin Dells with the family. That summer will go down in history as one I won’t forget. I’ll keep those memories to myself, but the one thing I always loved was the road trip back. Our final outing, we headed up to our family cabin. Brought all my friends and we stayed in other cabins so as not to bother the parents. They partied their way, we partied ours. But it was that road trip back, jamming to tunes made by everyone on cassette tape. Yeah, I tore out the 8 track Junior year and put in a cassette player, some cheap shit I could afford, but fuck it, as long as the sound system was hot, I didn’t care what was spinnin’ tunes. Bunch of Seniors, driving back and then…bam. There I am, sittin I a fuckin classroom, not lookin’ forward to football practice after school. While my friends are out fuckin off, here I am stuck on a football field, flattening dudes I gave zero fucks. “It’s fuckin practice, man! Save it for the other teams.” “Ah, man the fuck up or go home and put your slippers on, Anni!” I hated football, but I was fuckin good at it. After practice, it was on to the job. 8 labor intensive hours, makin’ hydraulic door closure units for $8.79 an hour (which was a lot of money at the end of the week). After that, off to the rack at 0130, tired as fuck, and onto the next day to do it all over again. But hey, I was makin’ good pay for a 17-year-old kid. The factory paid good wages, union wages. Yeah, I said union wages. Get fucked. I was the one with the nice car, the good shit, lived under my means. Bought the cheap shit to wear. No reason to think I’m fuckin God with a tree that grew money, and gas was 78¢ a gallon and movies were a buck. While the other kids begged their parents for cash, I could’ve moved out of the house my sophomore year when I was 16 with the money I was makin’. But nah, I was still just a kid. I didn’t know fuck all and my Mom and Pops were good people. I was the last kid in the house. So, nah. Just put my money away like Pops told me to do “You’ll need it someday.” Man, he wasn’t fuckin lyin, I’ll tell y’all that…Yet I digress.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah…On that road trip back, we cranked that volume knob to 11! Every artist, from AC-DC to Zeppelin and all rock and roll and metal in between. From the Big 4 to punk like Dead Kennedys and Black Flag (we all thought the Ramones sucked) is what made those road trips great. Just us, my Ford Galaxie 500, windows rolled down, the tunes, and my girl snuggled up on my arm. If there was one road trip we didn’t want to make back, it was that one from that cabin area outside of Brainerd, Minnesota that summer. I’ll never forget those days and that road trip back…but it was still one great fuckin summer.

This is the greatest thing about SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball folks. With all the “Music at your fingertips today. Whatever happened to being excited about something? Music at your fingertips is one thing. Being excited to see, “What is SGT Rock going to play next week.” Is the feeling I’m trying to bring y’all back to a time when me, my team, Baby Boomers and GenX headbangers had this show on a cable station that has since 1995 turned into an indoctrination channel for the poisoning of today’s kids. It makes me fuckin physically sick so I’m not going to mention those bastards who stopped playing music and started with a show called, “The Real World, San Francisco” and the disgusting reality TV shows and tomfuckery that has since then dumbed down those in the Millennial, GenZ, and GenA generations who you see today on social media.

And that’s sad. Because before all this indoctrination, that channel was about music, man. Just the music. The interviews, our heavy metal show on Saturday nights, our Summer. And then some fuckin suit and politician had to step in and fuck us over. That’s why I made this show. To give you that feeling you had and can have of “What’s SGT Rock going to have on the show next week?”

SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball is not just a show; it’s a rite of passage for those who find solace in the heavy metal’s cathartic embrace, a sonic call to the headbangers, the moshers, and the fist-raisers. Keep your horns held high and that volume knob cranked to 11! This is YOUR…Headbangers Ball!
