Donald Trump faces revised 2020 election interference charges

US prosecutors have revised charges against former President Donald Trump for his alleged interference in the 2020 election following his loss to Joe Biden.

These changes come in response to a US Supreme Court ruling last month affirming that presidents have broad immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts.

The updated indictment maintains the same four criminal counts against Trump, which he denies, but they now pertain to his status as a political candidate rather than a sitting president.

It seems unlikely that this case, along with other criminal proceedings against the Republican, will go to court before the upcoming election on November 5.
