Intelligence staff for Chernarus 2nd Army Corps discovered separatist plans for a major attack operation in the eastern Sumava region, with separatists planning to attack and take over three villages. Those Villages were: Kvilde, Zichoviche and Velikte Hydcice. Extracting data from reports from local agents, intercepted texts, and interrogations of prisoners of war, intelligence staff learned the separatists were planning these operations as part of a larger maneuver in the region.

Operations staff for 2nd Battalion, Chernarus 17th Separate Mechanized Cavalry Regiment assembled a task force consisting of two T-72 tanks, two recon rifle squads riding aboard two T-34 tanks, and three rifle squads also riding aboard T-34 tanks.

The resulting task force made a 44 minute road march to Kvilde where a hasty defense was set up. 2nd Recon Squad along with its tank was deployed on the east side of the village, while 1st Recon Squad took up positions on the northwestern edge. Command Squad took up a position on the northern edge of the village, while 2nd Squad and 3rd Squad along with their tanks were held in reserve.

Additionally, two more rifle squads riding aboard T-34 tanks were dispatched along with the task force. They, too, were held in reserve.

Separatists struck 1st Recon Squad first, an attack consisting of Spanish regulars. Chechen militia attacked the positions of Command Squad and 2nd Recon Squad.

1st Recon Squad was hit hard, and was ordered to pull back. Despite this, Tank 1 and Tank 2 fought off the attacks, forcing the enemy back. Tank 1 and Tank 2 also fought off additional attacks from Spanish regulars and Russian militia, eventually forcing them back.

Task Force commander launched a local counterattack intending to push back the enemy beyond the northern edge of the village. There, Command Squad along with 1st Reinforcing Rifle Squad engaged a large buildup of enemy infantry, forcing them to retreat back north.

After the operation to defend Kvilde ended, the task force marched straight north to Zichoviche, where the task force encountered light enemy armor and technicals, and defeated them. The tactical plan for the defense of the village was for 3rd Squad along with its T-34 tank to deploy to the east, while 2nd Squad and Command Squad took up positions overlooking the two motor bridges and the railroad bridge.

Russian militia and Spanish militia hit the positions of 2nd Squad enough so they were forced back. Task Force commander ordered the T-34 tanks forward to defensive positions to hold the bridges. Meantime, 3rd Squad held off attacks from Russian militia, holding its position.

At this point the task force commander launched a counterattack with the intention of pushing enemy infantry and vehicles back north across the river. Command Squad, which also doubles as the task force's assault element, suffered heavy losses, with the result being command of the task force fell to 2nd Squad.

Owing to heavy losses, with 1st Recon Squad wiped out along with Command Squad with his T-34, the new acting task force commander called the operation and ordered a withdrawal back to base.

Casualties were very heavy. 1st Recon Squad and Command Squad were wiped out along with his T-34 tank. Remnants of the task force suffered heavily as well, with these squads losing half their numbers.

Field counts of enemy losses included two BMPs, one BRDM, and one technical.

2nd Battalion and 2nd Army Corps intelligence staffs concluded that the separatists had been smashed in this latest operation, despite the losses of friendly forces. With winter approaching, it will be some time before separatist forces can attempt to launch a new operation in the region.
