Welcome back to the chainsaw saga, where we dive deeper into the world of DIY woodworking and tackle the challenges of working with an Alaskan sawmill. We’re putting our new equipment to the test, learning valuable lessons, and making progress on our mission to create a beautiful table from this massive oak log.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: After a quick lunch break, we geared up with a brand-new chain and a bunch of wedges. The result? A smoother cut through the oak log—well, mostly. There's still plenty to learn!

𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀: From realizing that a 20-inch bar is too small for this job to appreciating the importance of wedges, this project is teaching us the ins and outs of working with an Alaskan sawmill. And yes, two chainsaws are better than one.

𝗗𝗜𝗬 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: The first slab is off the log, and it looks fantastic. This project is shaping up, and we’re excited to see how it all comes together. With some more cuts and careful selection, we’ll have the perfect pieces for our table.
