Clade IB Monkeypox (Mpox) Urgency Claimed by WHO Africa Regional Office

MPox Clade 2B took five years to emerge whilst Clade IB only took a year. The first case of Clade IB was detected in a woman from South Kivu Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The largest city in Eastern DRC is Goma, which is in North Kivu, on the border with South Kivu. Interestingly biopharmaceutical / bioterror organisation Mérieux Foundation have biosafety level 2 and level 3 laboratories situated in Goma. What a coincidence! Read more here:
