Maine's High Electricity Rates Due to Solar Farms

Maine legislative Republicans presented a public hearing in Madawaska, Maine on August 28, 2024 to discuss the impact of solar farm subsidies on electricity rates and how Mainers are now paying excessively high electricity rates to fund solar farms that would otherwise not be commercial viable projects if the State relied on the private sector to build and maintain them. The Democrat-controlled legislature in Maine provides corporate welfare support to out of state and foreign companies to build the inefficient and unreliable solar farms funded by money legislatively extorted from the State's electricity customers through their monthly electric bills.
