Apatros Review Ep-0098: The Corpse Grinders [1971]

AR-0098: One of the most notorious scuzzy exploitation cheapies to hit the drive-in theatres of the 1970s, this el sleazo piece of schlock has a pair of shifty businessmen start up a cat food company that just so happens to source the meat for their cat food from the damnedest of places...

...human corpses from the nearby spooky cemetery!

Only problem is that any cat that eats from a Lotus Cat Food can [labelled "Food For Cats Who Love People"] figures out where their tasty new food is coming from and decide to get their next meal while it is fresh - by attacking their humans. Cue some ackassja from offscreen tossing cats onto the nearby actors!

The premise of this nasty movie is exactly the kind of thing you'd get if you ask people who are not horror fans to come up with the nastiest horror movie plot they can think of, and the film lacks any gore or nudity to it so it fails to comply with the Three B's of Exploitation Cinema, but it is surprisingly entertaining for Bad Movie Masochists, who consider this as a prime guilty pleasure, even though it isn't a "so bad it is good" type of movie.

My Grade: D+ [Disappointing]
