REPORT #4 | French police step up for British shores

On Thursday 29 August, in Grand-Fort-Phillipe, 25 minutes east of Calais. French police in huge numbers, stopped many migrants from illegally crossing the water to England. This is appears to be a massive change of tune by the French who previously would escort them to British waters.

Since 2018 over 134,000 migrants have illegally entered the UK by small boat and are then falsely claiming asylum, despite travelling through safe countries. In times gone by, the French have seemed to prefer to let the problem pass through as to not make it their own, however as the years have gone by both the problem has passed through and plagued France. Now they seem to be trying to stop it passing through to make it unappealing to come to France in the first place.

Unlike in the UK and Ireland where migrants are given, food, water, housing, legal aid, healthcare and money by the state. In Northern France their stay is facilitated by NGO groups like La Vie Active, Utopia56, Care4Calais etc. as well as the aiding and abetting of human trafficking.

Now it seems as though with some neighbourhood watch, assisting French authorities, the problem can be resolved in a peaceful and legal manner.
