Scripps News | SpaceX launches on hold after Falcon 9 rocket topples over in flames upon landing | A SpaceX booster rocket was overtaken by flames Wednesday upon its landing. No injuries were reported, but the Federal Aviation Administration ordered a hold on all Falcon 9 rocket launches while investigation of the accident is underway.

The impact the incident will have on upcoming flights is not yet certain, but likely to be affected are Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams — the two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station after their Boeing Starliner spacecraft developed its own set of problems.

A Falcon 9 rocket was scheduled to launch in September with a capsule for them to return home on by February 2025. However, if the launch is delayed, the return flight might shift as well, and that eight-month mission could get even longer.
