Animal Friends of Wyoming County is a 501(c)3 non-profit community organization made up of Wyoming County, NY, residents with a strong desire and passion to help animals. Their main goal is to promote proper animal welfare as well as simultaneously promote and sponsor dogs at the Wyoming County Animal Shelter. AFWC raises funds and create programs to help and care for abandoned and mistreated dogs at the animal shelter. AFWC was organized and created by a Board of Directors, each using their God-given gifts and talents to contribute to the overall goal. Directors communicate and work to organize programs, events and promotional material to bring the community together to care for lost and abandoned strays in the county. Though AFWC is a completely separate entity from the WCAS, their goals are similar: to educate our local community and save abandoned dogs. AFWC is proud to have such a loving community! Because of volunteers, members and residents, programs such as Spay Our Stray, Pets For Vets, CHOW, and PUPPIES are possible 100% through community contributions. Thank you!
CHOW, an acronym for Canine Health, Ownership, and Wellness, is the educational outreach project by AFWC aiming to bring animal health awareness to Wyoming County, NY, residents and beyond. Part of this outreach includes a podcast where AFWC President and other members interview special professional guests such as veterinarians, animal control officers, lawmakers, activists, and community members making a difference in regards to our four-legged family members. In addition to the podcast are Educational Videos where topics discussed on the podcast get a visual medium.
