We are living in times that are both challenging and exhilarating—times that demand spiritual courage, discernment, and unwavering faith. Many in the body of Christ believe we are in the "Days of Elijah," a prophetic era where the spirit of Elijah is moving to prepare the way for the Lord's return. Elijah was a prophet of boldness, confrontation, and miracles, and the season we are in calls for the same. We were made for such a time as this, not to shrink back but to stand firm, proclaim the truth, and demonstrate God's power. Today, we will explore how the Bible supports this and why these are indeed the "Days of Elijah."
1. Malachi 4:5-6 (NKJV) "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse."
2. 1 Kings 18:21 (NKJV) "And Elijah came to all the people, and said, 'How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.' But the people answered him not a word."
3. James 5:17-18 (NKJV) "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit."
4. Matthew 17:11-12 (NKJV) "Jesus answered and said to them, 'Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise, the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.'"
5. 1 Kings 17:1 (NKJV) "And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, 'As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.'"
6. Luke 1:17 (NKJV) "He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
7. 2 Kings 2:11 (NKJV) "Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven."
8. 1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) "Then He said, 'Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.' And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice."
9. Romans 11:4-5 (NKJV) "But what does the divine response say to him? 'I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.' Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace."
10. Revelation 11:3-6 (NKJV) "And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.' These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire."
We are indeed in the "Days of Elijah," a time of preparation, confrontation, and restoration. These days are not for the faint of heart but for those who are bold in faith, fervent in prayer, and committed to God's purposes. Just as Elijah stood against the tide of his time, we too are called to stand in the power of God, preparing the way for the return of our Lord. Let us rise with the spirit of Elijah, knowing that we were made for such a time as this, to see God's kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
