*Seconds before the axe swings down to take his head, Burn is utterly shocked to see the Son of the High Father walking through the still outraged crowd. They are ready for a sacrifice, ready for the blood that will make their land stay peaceful and whole, yet still they let the Son of the High Father through. It is like his passing makes them calm enough to step aside, their anger and yells returning a second later no matter how the Son gets by until he is right next to the silver platform. Erus stops his swing abruptly, stares as much in shock at the Son of the High Father as Burn is staring, and it is then that the Son speaks. He offers to take Burns place. He lets Erus know that he can be a better sacrifice, an eternal sacrifice, making the Darkened Earth pure forever because he was the one who brought Burn back during Burns fight with the Old One and as such he is the author, creator, the one who owns Burn and can stand in for his every choice. Erus lets the Ancient Axe fall to his side as he considers, the Son of the High Father walking up to help Burn off the platform as he does so. An eternal sacrifice would allow for Erus to end the burden of the continued blood letting that is needed to feed the land.
