Whipping Trailer Leads to Rollover, EAST TEMPE, August 29, 2024 - At approximately 12 noon on August 29, 2024, the driver of a gray 2007 Chevy 2500 pickup (pulling a trailer loaded with sack concrete) was south-bound on FM-350 South. The pickup was pulling with a regular bumper trailer ball(not a fifth wheel hitch). The weight of the load apparently caused the trailer to begin whipping. The driver, Carlos Ovidio Lopez Corcios, 46, of Livingston, lost control as the pickup left the pavement to the right and turned over (trailer and all). Corcios and his passenger were entrapped. The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit quickly arrived, cut the windshield out and freed the two occupants. Corcios was transported by ambulance to Kingwood Hospital with serious injuries (medical helicopters were not flying due to lightning). Deputy Rey Davalos with the Polk County Sheriff's Office assisted Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol in an accident investigation. Corcios is facing citations for no driver's license and no seatbelt. All traffic on 350 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Corcios' pickup was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service out of Goodrich.
