Small cell site in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada

These small cell sites are being deployed in urban areas. The sites are connected to base stations via fiber optics.

The purpose is to increase network connection and continuity of the connection for autonomous self-driving vehicles, and other artificial intelligence.

The frequency and power output of these small sites vary. The last time we were at this site we measured 6.0 V/m peak signal (maxed) and up to 84,000 uW/m2 power output. Today, we measured 6.0 V/m peak signal (maxed) and up to 7,100 uW/m2 power output.

The high frequency is consistent, while power output varies. With these small cell sites, there will be no hiding from the network, coupled with cellular satellites.

Potentially, these small cell sites may likely be used for the 5G millimeter wave (24 GHz to 300 GHz) in 2024.
