In the years I have lived in Crimea and Russia, I continuously discover new and interesting historical and cultural things, and people.

In this video, I want to share with you a very special person and friend, and her life's work.

Alexander Pushkin is arguably Russia’s most famous and loved author, poet, and playwright. Pushkin has been thoroughly studied, researched, and written about by numerous academics who write books and give presentations.

During the Soviet Era, students were introduced to Pushkin from elementary school to university. His fairy tales, poems and plays are known and loved by Russians of all ages.

One person is unique in how she has studied, written about, and made presentations about Pushkin to academics and ordinary people alike

Irina Obukhova is a classically trained pianist, psychologist, aromatherapist, and the author of many books.

Using the “house-tree-person" method developed by an American clinical psychologist, John Buck, to determine the psychological dimensions or aspects of a person, Irina applied this method to her analysis of Pushkin’s drawings and is the only person who has done a psychological profile of Pushkin based on his drawings and writings.

In her presentations, she draws upon this knowledge to create a living impression of Pushkin and provides a new, vibrant, and emotional feeling to his words.

Irina incorporates her musical talents to create a particular mood or feeling to passages from Pushkin that are simultaneously projected on a large screen.

Irina’s love and passion for Pushkin, and her entertaining and interactive style, engage and inspire all who attend her performances.
