Universe Without Waste

Every year, billions of tonnes of waste, including food, clothing, electronics, and building debris, wind up in landfills all over the world. In progressive nations, businesses and scientists are already developing circular economy business models, which turn trash from one industrial process into a resource for another. Reusing and recycling will lessen the demand for fresh material production from the environment.

In Part 2 of this documentary series, we learn about the century-old Italian custom of recycling used clothing, a Taipei hospital ward constructed out of recycled waste, the extraction of valuable materials for high-value manufacturing from Black Soldier flies that eat food waste, the recycling of batteries using leftover orange peel, and the creation of energy-neutral structures and circular industrial estates that maximize urban efficiency while reducing waste.
