The Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in Kursk Oblast was a big blow to Z-patriots. Even the pro-Kremlin "Soloviev LIVE" started talking about mistrust of Putin's regime. The famous Russian propagandist and "Americanist political scientist" Dmitry Yevstafyev made a bold statement. Yevstafyev began accusing the Kremlin elites of intending to reach an agreement with the West and return Ukraine's territories. He openly threatened the Putin regime with political problems in the coming months.
" Our government was given a colossal credit of public trust this spring. But it would be a very big mistake to think that this credit of trust is inexhaustible, to think that it is eternal, untouchable. If it is spent the way it has been in the last 2-2.5 months, I am afraid that we will face very big political problems... Our enemy is fighting not for life, but for death. For our death. He is fighting for his survival. And here too many of us in the political elite and around it proceed from the fact that the main task is to return everything to February 21. I did not misspeak... At the time of recognition of the "L/DPR" by Russia as "independent states". Well, to leave something of what was conquered? Crimea. Many bought estates for themselves there. Well, and toss something to the plebs. But too many want to return everything back: a castle in France, a mansion in London, a penthouse in New York, and a luxurious villa in Dubai, where you can’t really go now. Really? I really want to believe our state. But even I, with my biography and genetics, am beginning to distrust our state! And what do people think in the Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kazan metros, where our bosses don't go down? " the Russian propagandist said.
Recall, after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, hundreds of thousands of people left Russia. Not all of them could speak out loud, but Russian musicians, writers, journalists, social activists, artists, and generally anyone with an audience spoke for them. But most citizens have remained in Russia, including the vast majority of those who work in government or businesses or serve as religious clergy. Fear is probably the most understandable reason for the public silence of Russia's top elite. Putin set a trap for them. He started the war without consulting any of them. But they had no opportunity to disagree with his decision because when they entered the service, they agreed to its internal unwritten rules. Including the rule that discussing a political decision, particularly in public, is not accepted.
