How have the Malcolm Short Scopes evolved over time?

Earliest models:
- 3X or 6X Magnification
- Blued or 'Two Tone' (Brass) finish
- Rounded rear ring, which had somewhat limited travel at the extremes of windage or elevation
- Non-sliding lock ring, meant for recoil of .30-30 and lower
- Posa cut mounts

Gen 2
- 3X or 6X Magnification
- Blued or 'Two Tone' (Brass) finish
- Squared rear ring, meant to provide maximal travel on windage or elevation
- Turrets indicate 1/4 MOA per line when spaced 7.25" apart
- Sliding lock ring; can be configured not to slide when shooting lighter recoil rounds, but can handle the recoil of heavier rounds if set to slide
- Crescent cut mounts

BPCR Edition
- 6X Magnification
- Parallax adjustment
- Blued or 'Two Tone' (Brass) finish
- Squared rear ring, with a lockable frame (Lyman style)
- Turrets indicate 1/4 MOA per line when spaced 7.25" apart
- Sliding lock ring
- Crescent cut mounts

The sliding lock ring can be installed in either direction: with the collar towards the muzzle, or towards the eyepiece.

Chris favors having the collar towards the eyepiece, to provide greater contact if the scope scoots all the way backward. Scott prefers keeping the collar toward the eyepiece, to provide better contact when pulling the scope back.

It's always a good idea to run clean brass through your dies.
Chris' order of operations:
1. De-prime
2. Wet tumble brass, stainless steel media
3. Dry brass

We don't remember. It's been a few years.
Many versions of this device exist, but it does have its limitations. The version we use cannot contend with any sort of eye relief, so it can't be used on a normal scope. It also won't stand up to recoil, so it can't be used during live fire. For normal filming through a spotting scope, it's exactly right.

13:41 Shoulder Pad

"Where did you get that rear pad? The shoulder cushion. Asking for a friend."

It's a cut up boot. Once the sole wore out of a nice leather boot, I cut the toe off and shaped it into a shoulder pad.
