Throughout the first part of the early morning I had felt the unexpected presence of the Lord. It grew stronger and stronger throughout. His presence is unmistakable. It was rich with love and wonderment. At one point I had to stop and just take it in. I know this is what He wanted. I have felt it so many times in my life.

There were times of grief and sadness that made it impossible for me to utter a solitary word. Yet, in those quiet sobs His thick, rich loving presence overshadowed me. There are times of quiet meditation and pondering, and it is as if a window from on high is opened up and He enters in. Then there are many times of the unexpected visits. It is His way of spiritual communication to us.

His presence feels exactly as when someone steps into the room behind you. You do not hear them enter. You turn around and they are there. The presence of a person is powerful in a silent room. But when Jesus enters the room in His Presence it is something overwhelmingly other than earthly.

When once you have been in His presence you are changed. You are never the same again. His presence brings forth comfort, healing and joy. He dries the eyes of tears and "brings people out that are bound with chains." The atmosphere is pure, holy love.

There is nothing like the presence of the Lord. His presence is all around you now and always.

"Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence." ~ Psalm 140:13.

"If there be something which appears to explain this flash of spiritual awareness, it is discredited and called an "illusion." But He who was made aware of the presence of Another, and Unseen companion, in some hour of supreme need, very humbly but very surely knows that it was no illusion."

~ Amy Carmichael
