Israeli-Palestinian Anti-Normalization

It is time for those who truly believe in pushing their peoples' future forward to be the ones at the forefront of the conversation and to start using their voices to speak to each other, rather than to everyone else.

Israelis & Palestinains are two collectives with different historical narratives, but both come from the same Land. For too long energy has been invested in either dividing the Land and its peoples or in making one's liberation movement aimed at destroying the other.

There is no liberation for either without complete liberation for BOTH. The only way to transcend this 100-year ethnic conflict, is for the collectives of the Land to start communicating, to learn, understand, heal and grow together.

Anti-normalization exists on both sides, but it is undeniably stronger on the Palestinain side. The Palestinian Authority and Hamas do not grant local Palestinains the freedom of speech and arrest or threaten many Palestinains that build relations with Israeli community leaders. On the other hand, Palestinains in the diaspora are often shamed, harassed and even canceled for engaging with Israelis in conversations or work that doesn't involve tokenizing Jews and playing off their trauma (internalized anti-Semitism).

Anti-Normalization to maintain the status quo is legitimate. However, preventing humanization, solution building, creating relations, or holistic thinking is not normalizing the conflict, it's preventing all from transcending it.
