Kilreen Park is a 2.2-hectare neighbourhood park oriented north/south off Southwood Drive, south of Iris Street. The active recreation amenities are found in the southern half of the park. New accessible pathways will connect the small basketball court and gazebo to the existing pathway network and splash pad. The concept plan is in the document library on the right. This sports-oriented park is located in western Ottawa. Description: The main portion of Morrison Park is roughly rectangular, about 110 meters east to west, and nearly 300 meters north to south, sitting between Morrison Drive on the north, and the back of St. Paul Catholic High School on the south. Google Maps’ representation of the park suggests that, on its southeast corner, it may also include some green space around the north and east sides of Grant Alternative School. Because of its size, Morrison Park has room for a number of recreational sports facilities. These include two tennis courts that are used for both public play and classes, two soccer fields, an asphalt basketball court, a running track, a ball field, and a boarded ice rink (in season) suitable for hockey. For younger children there are multiple swings, a play structure and teeter-totter, a mini-waterpark/splashpad with sprinklers, and a large open lawn area in the northeast corner. Morrison Park also provides a number of benches and picnic tables, including one under a covered gazebo. Parking is on-street; there is no public parking available inside the park. Morrison Park appears in the City of Ottawa's official database of municipal parks. (See link URL.) It is searchable in both Google Earth and Google Maps, with images of the park available via the latter’s Street View feature. The construction of the Morrison Park gazebo replacement commences August 10, 2023. Contractors will be on site to install perimeter fencing and demolish the existing gazebo through to Wednesday August 16. Construction will continue over the next few weeks. Images below illustrate the new gazebo location with similar colours, and new concrete pad detail. The park pathway entrance at Morrison Drive will be adjusted with an accessible slope.
