Riots In Israel (Far-Right V. Jewish Activist)

There are many things that individuals on the Far Right or Far Left say that are based on common values or shared ideas that majorities hold. What makes them "Far" is the inability to understand the other side and the weaponization of a just cause to wrongfully attack or counter another people or cause.

Knesset member Simcha is saying the truth when he says that Israel has a responsibility to protect Jews and that the dozens of Arab riots in Israel over the past weeks were greater in number and damage when compared to the handful of Jewish riots. However, he is absolutely wrong when denying the fact that there were violent Jewish riots, even if rare, or that Israel was created solely to protect Jews. Israel is a country that protects ALL of its citizens regardless of their beliefs or background.

This inability to criticize within or to externalize empathy for others clearly stems from neglected trauma that needs holistic healing. That being said, we need to be demanding more from representatives and having them understand that if they have a position of power, much more is expected from them than just fighting. We need our leaders to understand the larger game at play, the impact of conflict and war on all lives, and to serve a role in transcending this oppressive reality, rather than ignoring it.

The pattern here is that whenever the "why things are happening” is brought up in order to deal with the "what is happening”, individuals who are anti-Israel or anti-Palestinian immediately flair up and see nuance as an attack to their micro world view. Context and compassion seems to be a manifestation of their greatest fear, but it is their fear that is their greatest obstacle to clear vision.
