Don't Rock The Boat by: Anthony Cobb

Years ago I worked a season selling Christmas Trees at a garden center back in my home town Findlay Ohio. I remember one night in particular, it was four days before Christmas when an old beat car pulled into the parking lot. Three young children got out of the car followed by their parents. I watched as the kids ran over to the nicest tree we had and jumped up and down shouting this one daddy. The dad looked at the tree and then at his wife, then asked me if we had any Charlie Brown trees in the back? Now this was not the first time that season I had witnessed this sort of thing happening, but this time was different. I seen the joy on the children's faces and the sadness in their parents eyes. I walked over to the tree the children wanted and told their dad that this was the last Charlie Brown tree on the lot and it just so happened to be free. After the tree was tied on top of the car I stood and watched as they drove away.
On my way home that night I said allowed, "see the weary guests of life" as I thought about that family. When I got home I wrote down that line and God wrote the rest of Don't Rock The Boat.
