Dr Dan Siegel came up a GREAT way to explain what is happening in our brain's when we go into a fight/flight response.

This applies to our kids at school.

For some kids, they experience this cycle EVERY day, and the ENTIRE time they are at school.

We have to take this into consideration when we're putting adjustments in place, as well as when we are asking kids to engage in tasks they are not able to engage in.

**I'll also edit my mistake instead of making another video!! I said that the time it takes for kids to come back to baseline is equal to the time they are escalating. That is not true.
I should have said: Kids will spend time in the "lull" on the escalation curve. THAT time will be equivalent to the time it takes them to de-escalate and hit the lull state.**
