Russia has sharply criticized the United States after FBI raids targeted two Americans with ties to Russian state media. The searches, carried out in early August, prompted a strong response from Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, who accused the U.S. of undermining democracy and violating human rights. Zakharova also called out international organizations for their silence and sarcastically urged U.S. officials to condemn the actions. The individuals targeted by the FBI, Scott Ritter and Dimitri K. Simes, have denied any wrongdoing, framing the searches as politically motivated.
